Since the beginning of clinical cancer registration in 2015, the cancer registry has been funded predominantly by providers of statutory and private health insurance. This was determined in the Cancer Early Detection and Registry Act. Furthermore, the clinical cancer registration is partly funded by the Senator of Health, Women and Consumer Protection of the state of Bremen, which also funds the epidemiological cancer registration.

Moreover, the German Cancer Aid provides funding in order to establish both the epidemiological as well as the clinical cancer registration.

The Bremen Cancer Society also contributed to the establishment of the clinical cancer registry.
