Small Area Analyses

Small area analyses of the BCR

Small area analyses are assessments of suspected or observed cancer clusters in a locally restricted area. If such a suspicion exists, the related area is analyzed separately by the cancer registry. Thereby, possible exposure to pollutants such as groundwater contamination is taken into account.

The results of small area analyses are published in coordination with the Senator for Health, Women and Consumer Protection and, if necessary, in cooperation with the Bremen health department. Small-scale analyses thus contribute to cancer causation research and serve as a basis for political decisions.
